Many industrial applications demand materials capable of combating specific environmental conditions, particularly in systems with high static or dynamic loading. Surfacing the technique of applying a coating of a given alloy onto an underlaying surface or substance (generally of metal, although some non metallic surfaces can be coated), provides a highly cost effective way of combating hostile environments.
